The Boko Haram insurgency left more than physical destruction in its wake. For thousands of girls across North East Nigeria, the wounds run deeper; into mental and emotional trauma that, left unhealed, can echo through generations. We believe education is the most powerful medicine. At the GCC Girls Academy in Maiduguri, which is a non-profit boarding school, girls affected by the insurgency receive seven years of education: a foundation year that catches up girls whose primary schooling was disrupted by the prolonged conflict, followed by six years of secondary education, life skills, and market-relevant livelihood training in a safe, structured, healing environment. They arrive as survivors. They graduate as confident, self-reliant young women; agents of transformation in their families, their communities, and the region. This campaign is one chapter of that journey. --- Right now, the Academy's library sits in the dark. Its shelves hold academic texts, self-help and professional books for our teachers, plus a community section serving young professionals in GCC's mentorship programme. Its computers could connect our girls to virtual resources from around the world. None of it runs, because there is no electricity. Our two adjoining training rooms each seating 50, host Village Health Worker trainings, Mother Support Groups on nutrition, and teacher continuing-education sessions. Today they depend on a small, fume-belching petrol generator. This campaign installs a complete solar power system: 40 solar panels with lithium battery storage and hybrid inverters, plus 4 inverter air conditioners, 15 solar fans, an inverter refrigerator and full wiring. The library stays open into the evening, the computers come alive, and over 100 community trainees each month learn in cool, clean, quiet rooms; no generator fumes, no fuel costs.
